January Wrap Up
Hi everyone!!!
WOW. I know it has been an embarrassing amount of time since my last blog post. I took off a lot of time from blogging and social media during the holidays and it just kind of crossed over into January! A lot has happened and life has been a little hectic, so I thought I would do a little wrap of of January (I guess December too… yikes!)!
December was filled with so much! Firstly, obviously the holidays! I had so many fun blog posts planned for December, but I just got so behind and wanted to spend time with my husband since it was our first holiday season being married! We had so many fun nights of staying in watching movies and drinking hot chocolate and I don’t regret any of it because they made for such special moments and memories.
The second reason for a busy December - I got a new job! I was working in Hospitality at a beautiful, 5 star resort in Newport Beach. I went to college for Hotel Management & Hospitality, so I have been in hotel positions for about 3 years now. During October, I was at home for the month due to having mono (gross), and I had a lot of time to think. I had a sudden epiphany that I didn’t think the hotel industry was a great fit for me. I learned so much in my 3 years at 2 5 star hotels and I wouldn’t change any of it, but I just found that it wasn’t the path I was destined to be on. That was when I made the change to being a Leasing Representative for a very large Apartment Company! I have been in my position for almost 2 months and I absolutely love it. and I am just so happy. At my hotel job, I had shifts as early as 5:45 a.m., so I am still adjusting to my new schedule of starting a bit later which is why I haven’t yet found the balance of making time after work to work on my blog!
Aaaaand the 3rd and biggest reason I have been MIA - my life has been packed in boxes because we are moving! We are only moving about 25 minutes away to Irvine, California, but is so much closer to work for both me and Justin. We absolutely loved our little beach bungalow in Huntington Beach, but we were really needing a new space that was bigger, more updated and more centrally located. We chose a fantastic community that has everything we wanted and is located next to literally everything we need (Nordstrom Rack, Sephora, TJ Maxx, movie theater, so many restaurants, Target, the list literally goes on and on). The thing I am most excited about is our new kitchen! We have a very, very tiny kitchen with no dishwasher currently, so I have not been able to do nearly as much cooking as I would like to. At our new home, there is a huge kitchen, living room and dining room that are in an open concept floor plan with a huuuge kitchen island! So I will be able to cook every night and create recipes like I love to! I am huge on cooking and I am always creating new recipes (is that something you guys would want to see??), so I am really excited.
My life is currently in a million Home Depot boxes, so I literally cannot find anything and my home is a disaster, which is why I haven’t been posting anything.
One of my absolute favorite hobbies and favorite part about moving is interior decorating! It has been a very long time hobby of mine. When I go shopping, I usually go straight to the home decor section before the clothes. I am getting rid of most of our current decor pieces and starting fresh! I have a really cool vision for our new home and I have already started to gather some cool items. I cannot wait to share with you guys what I come up with and give you guys a home tour! It might not be for a solid month or 2 since Justin and I have SO MUCH STUFF (seriously, can someone please tell my husband to get rid of that piece of paper or mail from 7 years ago he might need one day but never actually will???) , but I promise it will come. I am currently getting rid of a lot of stuff before we move, so I put up a bunch of stuff on my Poshmark account! My account name is “blissnilsen”, check it out and buy some things!
I cannot wait to FINALLY get some of our wedding photos printed and hung on our walls. We had such incredible photographers, I literally want to stare at the photos all day. I have already bought some beautiful, big frames, so it’ll be one of the first things I do!
Another fun part about January was that I celebrated my 5 year anniversary of moving to California! I cannot believe 5 years has flown by. I am planning a big blog post on how I moved halfway across the country on my own 5 years ago and everything that happened in between - the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly.
I know this post was slightly pointless, but I just wanted to do a little update and catch up on life! After we move I am extremely dedicated to creating weekly content and not slacking. I love this blog and I love writing out my thoughts on different things. Here are a few things I am working on!
Palm Springs Recommendations! I went to Palm Springs with my sisters for a few days and it was my first time there. I had so much fun! It is such a cute town and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite parts.
Home Tour - Obviously when we move in and get settled! I’ll share my favorite finds for our new apartment and my favorite places to find home decor.
5 Year California Anniversary : How I moved half way across the country and what I have learned since then.
I’ve been getting a bunch of DMs on what presets I use for my photos and how I do my Instagram Stories, so i’ll be doing a post on that!
I would love to hear from you guys! What are some things you would love to see or read?? Please feel free to DM me on Instagram or send me an email! I really would love to hear what people want to see and read on blogs. Should I share more wedding tips? Recipes?? You tell me!
Here are some moments of December and the first month of 2019…
Christmas at Disneyland! My favorite time of year!
Christmas….obviously.
I had the chance to go to the KKW Beauty Pop-Up Shop at South Coast Plaza and it was soooo cool! It was so tastefully done and it was honestly breathtaking. It kind of felt like I was walking into a Yeezy fashion show, but it was so cool. V impressed, kkw.
I binged this new show and I. Was. HOOKED. It was so good! I am a sucker for mysteries and suspenseful shows, so this was right up my alley. I’m embarrassed to say I think I finished in 3 days… but it was great. I can’t wait for season 2!
The iconic pink door!!! Palm Springs was a huuuuge highlight of this month, so I can’t wait to share more!
Little moments with my husband…
And finally.. here is a little peak of our new home!!! Natural light was HIGH on my list of preferences and when we walked in, it was love at first sight!
2019 is already off to a great start. I am so excited to see everything that happens this year! Thank you all so much for following along so far. I know I am still a new blogger and growing, but even just 1 click to this website means so much to me.
