Meet My Husband!
This month is very, very special! Not only is it my husband, Justin’s, birthday tomorrow… This month marks the 5 year anniversary of when we met! Justin and I met on July 21st, 2014. I absolutely cannot believe it has been 5 years since we met. It feels like I have known him my entire life.
Justin proposed on September 3, 2017 and we were married on September 14, 2018. We are just a couple of months away from our 1 year anniversary and I cannot believe it has already been almost a year. since we got married. To this day, we still feel like we are just dating and still in the “honeymoon” phase. We laugh all day until our stomachs hurt, we are each other’s best friends, we tease each other all day long. He is one of the kindest, most loving people I have ever met. He has a heart of gold and he is truly one of a kind. Since it is his birthday tomorrow, I thought it would be fun to share some fun facts about him and our relationship!
We met working at Disneyland!
I will always remember the day we met for the rest of my life. If you know me, you know that I was a Face Character at Disneyland for 3 years. I was greeting guests at the Disneyland Main Gate when I suddenly saw a very tall (and very handsome) man come around the corner to save me from my very long line of guests. His cute dimple caught my eye immediately and we started flirting very fast. Throughout the day, Justin and I instantly had a friendship connection. By the end of our shift, we were Facebook friends and chatting about my love for The Bodyguard and Whitney Houston. At the time, I was dating someone else, so we instantly became friends and nothing more. When that relationship ended, Justin helped me through my break up and our connection grew even more. It was an instant love connection, however, due to my stubbornness, the relationship did not come easy. On November, 25, 2014, Justin took me on our first date. He took me to BJ's Brewhouse in Orange, California. The date was noooot off to a great start..... I was blabbing and went on and on about how horrible their spaghetti was, the waitress comes, and Justin says, "i'll have the spaghetti, please." Mortified, I sunk into the booth and Justin immediately had something to tease me about (he still teases me about this to this day).
Over the next few months, Justin and I texted all day...every day. We were both hooked (although I didn't want to admit it at the time..again...due to my stubbornness). We kept our relationship relatively private because we wanted to be in our own little bubble. Working at Disneyland, your business is everyone's business. Many of Justin's friends told him to stop talking to me because of my stubbornness and playing "hard to get" a little too hard, but every time, Justin just couldn't. He knew we were meant for each other and I am thankful every day that he did not give up because we are each other's soul mates. After about 3 months of dating quietly, we finally became more public and we were already in love. Justin said "I love you" shortly after we began dating and I knew I felt the same.He is one of the smartest people I have ever met.
I don’t know how he does it, but he is so freaking smart it blows my mind. I can ask about any part of history, any era, any president and he will know off the top of his head certain facts I never learned in school. He watches a lot of history shows and can pick up any fact and immediately memorize it. Sometimes I will ask him a super simple question about history and he will give me the whooole story hahah. He is so passionate, it makes my heart so happy. It makes me so happy knowing that our kids will have such a smart father to help them with homework and learn from.He loves every sport out there.
I have seen some hard core sports fans out there, but Justin takes it to a whole other level! He loves hockey, football, soccer, basketball, baseball, you name it, he watches it. His main love is hockey, but he really loves all of them and it is so cute to see him so passionate. Just like I said with anything history related, he can do the same with sports. I can ask who a random player is and voila, he knows their entire story, their statistics, everything. It’s so inspirational that he is so passionate about something and loves it so much. He lives and breathes the Anaheim Ducks and he has gotten me hooked on hockey as well! No one has ever been able to turn me into a sports person, until him. One of the things we did when we were secretly dating was go to his hockey games. I love sitting in the stands watching him play. He is super tall, so he is pretty quick on his feet and I actually know what is going on when I am watching haha. Not that I am a huge sports person at all… but being able to tell what is going on in the game is a success in itself! He suffered a pretty massive injury from hockey 5 years ago right around when we met, so he doesn’t get to play as much now. He had a horrrrrrrible break in his leg that still gives him trouble. For his birthday, I got him tickets to go see his favorite football team, the Houston Texans, when they play the LA Chargers this fall. Don’t worry, I already gave him his present so i’m not spoiling anything! I think it is so cute that he’s a born and raised California boy but loves the Texans! He is SO FREAKING FUNNY
If you know Justin, you know he loves a good joke and a good comeback. He makes me belly laugh every single day. He is so quick to say a joke or turn something funny. I cannot stay mad at him for very long because he quickly has me laughing again, which is a blessing and a curse! It is honestly amazing sometimes to see how quick he is with a witty, funny comeback or joke. Nothing makes me happier than being married to someone who can make me laugh. I keep telling him to do standup, I think he needs some more convincing…. We can goof around all day long like children. When we have days off together, we will just lay in bed for hours talking and laughing our heads off. I struggle with a lot of anxiety and Justin is the only person who can bring me out of it through laughter. He’s a huge gamer!
Justin has always been a big gamer, but the last few months he has really kicked it up a notch. He now has an entire set up in our bedroom that is honestly pretty impressive! He has a fancy microphone for streaming and it is honestly so cool to see everything together. I know a lot of people out there hate when their husbands play video games, but to be honest… I kind of love it! It is always nice to have our own things we do. Something that I think has made us such a strong couple is taking time to do our own thing. We don’t have to be in the same room together every 5 seconds. He will go on his games and I’ll watch my trash TV (any 90 day fiance fans??!?), it’s great to have balance! He never overdoes it with the games, he always knows when it’s time to quit. There has never been a second that he has chosen a video game over me, which I love and appreciate so much. I will definitely not pretend to know anything about video games, but it is pretty cool to see his set up! All you Twitch users out there…follow him! His username is darthchewvader :)
He truly is a precious gem of a man
As I have said in previous posts, Justin does so many things that he knows will make me happy. He let’s me decorate our apartment in pastel colors, he let’s me talk his ear off about stuff he has absolutely no idea about, he listens to my Broadway, Jonas Brother’s and the Greatest Showman songs blasting in the kitchen, he never complains about my trash tv like The Hills and 90 Day Fiance, the list goes on. He never gives me a hard time for doing the things I love. He is the most encouraging partner and I feel so lucky to have him as my cheerleader. Any time I set my mind to something, he is always keeping me on track and he never lets me give up on something.
I found this written on one of his hockey sticks when we were first dating…… crying.
I am thankful every single day to be Justin’s wife. He is exactly the person I saw myself marrying. He has such a kind soul and always puts his family first. Not that we are having kids right now, but I cannot wait to see how amazing of a father he will be. He will shower our family with nothing but love.
We are headed to San Diego tomorrow and I am so excited for a little getaway! We are staying at my favorite hotel EVER and Justin is taking me to see one of my favorite people on this planet. For Christmas, Justin’s mom & step dad got me tickets to see HUGH JACKMAN and the concert happened to be on Justin’s birthday. Justin is a precious gem of a man and is giving up his birthday evening to go to a concert for me. Isn’t he precious?!
Happy birthday, my love. I love you more than all of the stars in the sky. You are my person and I am so blessed that I get to spend the rest of my life with you.
