"I Couldn't Help but Wonder..."

If you are a Sex and the City fan, this post is for you! Also, does anyone else remember it being Sex IN the City when we were younger?? Mandela effect or am I just crazy?

** If you have not seen the series and plan to some day, please stop reading here - spoilers ahead! **

Justin and I have been showing each other movies that the other has never seen over the last few months. It has been SO fun to watch movies that I have never even heard of and it has been equally fun showing Justin movies that I grew up with (the movie list will be a separate post!). Justin’s list of movies to show me was significantly longer than mine and I was running out of movies to show Justin. I love Justin…. but I reeeeeally didn’t want to spend every night watching these heavy movies involving either sports or heavy battle scenes lol. Not that I don’t enjoy those movies, because I do! He just has a loooot of them on his list. A few weeks ago I thought it would be fun to go into TV shows the other has never seen before! We started with Greek (one of my favorites, he actually has seen it but remembered NOTHING about it, so it counts!), then we moved onto The Simpsons (we obviously didn’t watch all 32 seasons, just Justin’s favorites seasons!), now we have started Sex and the City!

When we started the series, I knew Justin would like it. The personalities of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha are so relatable to pretty much every viewer. I have seen the show all the way through probably about 5-10 times, but every time I am so excited to watch it. It is such a fun show and I just love every character (ehh… except Carrie - but I’ll get into that later). I feel like everyone can relate to a character in some way in this show, which is rare these days.

It has been a while since I have seen the entire series from beginning to end - sometimes I start at season 4 ot 5 and just watch until the end. It is funny how much my opinions changed watching it alllll the way through again. The first time you watch the show, of course you think Carrie will be your favorite. Hello?? She’s Carrie Bradshaw! The last few times I have watched I have realized… Carrie is kind of the worst. Anyone else with me on that? She’s incredibly selfish with her friends and relationships, she is so self absorbed and it’s hard to watch her self destruct constantly. Any time her friends are going through a crisis, she’s calling them going on and on about her boy problems - ignoring their issues. Charlotte has always been my favorite, but this time it bugged me just a little bit seeing her constantly slut shaming Samantha. I still love Charlotte because I relate to her a lot and I feel like my style matches her the most. Miranda was never my absolute fave, but I gotta say, she’s really stealing my heart this time. She’s a great friend and she’s a logical thinker. Samantha is and will always be queen. Samantha is a bad bitch and is who I aspire to be - she does not care what anyone thinks of her and she lives her life exactly how she wants to. I need to be more like Samantha. I care way too much about what people think of me and I need a lil Samantha in me.

Here are Justin’s favorite characters from most to least favorite:
1. Samantha
2. Miranda
3. Charlotte
4. Carrie

I love that Justin is enjoying the show, I truly did not expect him to like it so much and it has been so fun to watch it. We are currently in season 5 and I can’t believe we are almost done - it goes by so fast!!! I am anxiously awaiting Justin to meet Harry and Smith, 2 of the best character spouses on the entire show. Justin is a Steve stan for life, he absolutely loves Miranda and Steve and is getting so frustrated that they aren’t together yet. Patience, Justin…Patience.

One of the best parts of the show??? The FASHION! Oh man. The fashion is truly unlike any other show. They take so many fashion risks and only these characters can really pull them off. I am by no means any type of fashion guru, but I thought it would be fun to go over my favorite looks from the ladies!

Can I have their wardrobe budget please??? Wow. I love all of these looks so much, they all look so chic. There are some questionable outfit choices…. but hey, you win some you lose some. Carrie isn’t my favorite character, but man does she have some amazing outfits. They get better and better as the seasons go on.

Okay now I’m on a roll and I want to list my top 5 favorite episodes.

“An American Girl in Paris: Part Deux” Season 6, Episode 20
(Aka the series finale!)

I mean…duh. This is such a great episode. One of the best series finale episodes, in my opinion. The entire series, Carrie and Big have this “will they won’t they” game going on. You KNOW Big is meant for Carrie, but sometimes they can be toxic for each other. When Charlotte calls Big and meets with him and Miranda says “go get our girl…” Ugh, chills. When Carrie drops her diamonds in the lobby of the Hotel Plaza Athenee and looks up to see Big, in Paris. They found each other again in the very place that ruined their relationship in season 2. When she surprises the other girls in the cafe and they are just so excited to see her. Smith flying back to Samantha just to tell her he loves her… Charlotte and Harry finding out they’re getting a baby! This is just such a great episode and really wraps up every story.

“I Heart NY” Season 4, Episode 18

This is the episode where Carrie finds out Big is moving to Napa and they have their last great date. While strolling in a carriage, Carrie gets the call that Miranda is in labor and having Brady! This is just such a sweet moment between Carrie and Miranda and truly shows how great their friendship is. Also, the pink fringe shoes Carrie is wearing on her date with Big are probably my favorite shoes in the entire series.

“One” Season 6, Episode 12
Trigger Warning: Miscarriage

This is such an emotional episode - Charlotte unfortunately suffers from a miscarriage after years of trying to have a baby, Miranda & Steve’s child, Brady, turns one, Miranda and Steve realize that they are meant to be together, Charlotte is the ultimate amazing friend and attends the birthday party just days after suffering from a miscarriage. It’s honestly such a wonderful episode and I cry every single time. This is also the episode where Carrie meets Aleksandr Petrovsky, the artist, and they go on their very strange 1 a.m. date to the art exhibit.

"The Ick Factor” Season 6, Episode 14

The episode everyone has waited for since Miranda met Steve at that dive bar… The episode where they get married!! They have the most intimate, untraditional wedding that is absolutely perfect for them. They have their closest friends and family there and I wouldn’t expect anything else from them. This is also the episode where Samantha reveals that she has breast cancer. Being the absolute boss and queen she is, she knows she is going to kick cancer’s ass and she handles it with such grace and dignity. This is also the episode with the infamous Oscar de la Renta pink opera dress where she faints from “too much romance…” Lol, ok Carrie. Drama queen.

"The Post-It Always Sticks Twice" Season 6, Episode 7

This is the episode with the FAMOUS post-it that Berger leaves for Carrie. “I’m sorry, I can’t - don’t hate me.” Big yikes, Berger. Big yikes. I love this episode because I feel like everyone lets their hair down a little. Carrie gets caught in the middle of the street with a joint which is like…iconic. Charlotte had just gotten engaged to Harry and is embarrassed to have another big wedding and the girls tell her it’s okay to have another great love and a great wedding - which gets Charlotte excited all over again. The end of the episode, they are all sitting in a restaurant eating dessert just being the best 4 friends ever. Also, they all look effing amazing in this episode.

Wow. I am not even done with the series and I already want to watch it again. This show is iconic. I know I say a lot things are iconic, but truly.. this show is one of a kind. There will never be a show similar to it. The Carrie Diaries was…cute. But that wasn’t Carrie Bradshaw. I am very much looking forward to the reboot, but to be honest - it really won’t be the same without Samantha. Who knows what the truth is with their feud, but I just don’t believe SJP when she said that this story doesn’t involve Samantha. Samantha is the best character, how can the storyline just not involve her?? That excuse just isn’t going to fly with me.

Okay now let’s talk the movies. I personally loved the movies, but I love the first one more. The story line was just so good and even though the movie is long, it covers so much and feels like you’re just watching one long episode. That’s kind of the point of going from a tv screen to the big screen! I still liked the second movie, but it was just different. I will say that Abu Dhabi Miranda is FUN and I love her in the second one.

I apologize how pointless this post was - but I had fun going back on the incredible fashion and my favorite episodes! Do you have a favorite episode?
